The Wrong Digital Art Biennale
Role: Senior Brand Designer | Agency: Personal Project | Year: 2013
The Client
The Wrong is a global organisation that aims to create and promote new digital art to a wider audience. It consists of a biennial event that happens both online and offline in ‘Pavilions’ and ‘Embassies’ around the world, respectively. Since it began in 2013, more than 3K artists/curators have participated.
Being one of the two representatives and curators of the event in Montevideo for their first edition, I was asked to develop my local Embassy’s identity and marketing campaign.
The Challenge
Utilising my ‘glitch’ pieces as core visuals, laid out with digitally-inspired typography, my colleague and I managed to spark interest in our very conservative artistic community and begin talking about new media (such as VR and AR) back in 2013.
We also got the support and sponsorship from the country’s Ministry of Education and Culture and heavy media coverage, setting a precedent for similar avant-garde cultural endeavours in Uruguay.
